Colfax County voting information

COLFAX — With national elections happening this November, voting information is at its most important! For those who live in Colfax County, here is some information to help make sure you’re able to vote in upcoming elections.
To register to vote in Colfax County, please visit the County Clerk’s Office, located at 230 N. Third St, Raton, NM. You must have a residential address within Colfax County. The deadline to register is 28 days before an election, and voting hours are 7 am to 7 pm on election day. The County Clerk’s office is open for early voting during regular business hours. To register by mail, please call the Colfax County Clerk at (575) 445-5551. If you are first-time registrant by mail, you must send in one of the following documents with your registration if you wish to avoid showing identification at the polls on election day: a copy of a valid driver’s license or identification card; a copy of a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck; or student identification, tribal identification, or other government document. For questions, please call the county clerk’s office.
If you’d like to volunteer to work at the polls, please register with the county clerk by calling (575) 445-5551. Volunteers that work at a polling location will be required to work a full day.
City elections and special elections:
Municipal elections (including special municipal elections) administered by the Colfax County Clerk’s Office include regular municipal elections, which are held in November of odd-numbered years; and special municipal elections (such as city bonds) are held as needed.
School, county, state, and federal elections are also administered by Colfax County. These include: elections for US Congress and president of the United States (both primary and general elections); school district elections; and county and state elections.
There will be voting convenience centers set up all across Colfax County as the election draws near in order to enable rural residents to vote without having to travel; these centers will be located at:
• St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Church: 104 Buena Vista St., Raton, NM
• Raton Convention Center: 901 S. Third Street, Raton, NM
• Angel Fire Community Center: 15 Cs Ranch Road, Angel Fire, NM
• Eagle Nest Community Center: 151 Willow Creek Dr., Eagle Nest, NM
• Cimarron Village Hall: 356 9th Street B, Cimarron, NM 87714
• Springer – Luna Community College: 516 Maxwell Avenue, Springer, NM
• Maxwell School Auditorium: Park Avenue and 4th Street, Maxwell, NM
For voters’ convenience, the Colfax County Clerk’s Office will also be operating a mobile voting center in each municipality after May 16, 2020. Early voting/absentee ballots will be accepted at the Colfax County Clerk’s Office beginning May 5, 2020.
