Vestas begins hiring for Pueblo plant

 by Carol Dunn

PUEBLO- A job fair sponsored by Vestas in Pueblo on March 14 was scheduled in three sessions to accommodate an anticipated large turnout of job seekers.  Denmark-based Vestas, with seven global divisions for sales and service, will build the world′s largest wind tower manufacturing plant in Pueblo.  One job fair attendee told the Journal that Vestas announced it plans to hire around 500 people for the Pueblo plant.  Vestas also has offices in Brighton and Windsor.

Vestas will be hiring people for eight classifications of hourly positions and 18 different support positions at the Pueblo location.  To apply for a job, applicants need to submit an application and resume online through www.sosstaffing.com/vestas.  SOS staffing, with 14 Colorado locations, handles hiring for Vestas, and its web site lists all the positions that are being hired.

According to one Vestas brochure, the company’s goal is to see wind energy generate 10% of the world’s electricity by 2020.  The Vestas web site says the company has 23% of the market share of the global wind power market.
