STONEWALL — The Vonna Parsons Memorial Scholarship Fund is made possible by the Stonewall Fire Auxiliary in association with the Tercio Ranch and Foundation, which is the local affiliate of Louis Bacon’s Moore Charitable Foundation. Matching funds from each organization support the four-year scholarship that is awarded to a qualified senior each year who reside within the Stonewall Fire Protection District.
Normally the scholarship is awarded to one student each year. Funds were available this year to award three qualifying students at different levels.
Stonewall Fire Auxiliary is pleased to announce the 2016 winners. Receiving the $4,000 scholarship was Julian Trujillo. Trujillo graduated from Primero High School and will attend Trinidad State Junior College in the fall. Katy Rael is the winner of the $2,000 stipend who graduated from Trinidad High School. Rael plans to attend Colorado State University in Pueblo this fall. The $500 grant was awarded to Gabrielle Dasko who also graduated from Primero High School and will attend Trinidad State Junior College this fall.
The Stonewall Fire Auxiliary and the Tercio Foundation look forward to hearing from these young people as they pursue their goals in higher academics.
