Spanish Peaks Cycling Association: gravel biking coordinator

by Kerrie Meyler

and Kent Hay

LA VETA — The Spanish Peaks Cycling Association Board of Directors would like to hear from individuals interested in taking a lead role in coordinating a local gravel riding event. With gravel riding becoming increasingly popular, Spanish Peaks Cycling would like to bring this experience to Huerfano County.

Spanish Peaks Cycling. a 501(c)(3)organization, currently organizes the Stonewall Century Ride, a 102 mile out-and back ride over the Highway of Legends (CO Highway 12), now in its 15th year. Proceeds from the ride are donated to local nonprofits, primarily the La Veta and Stonewall Fire Protection Auxiliaries. Spanish Peaks Cycling also focuses on bicycle safety — hosting several bicycle repair clinics each year (we fix your bike – for free!), organizing bicycle safety talks and rodeos for La Veta and Gardner elementary school students, and helping La Veta Trails with Walk or Wheel (WOW) Wednesdays.

If interested in working with Spanish Peaks Cycling to organize such an event, please email or write us at PO Box 586, La Veta 81055.
