SPACe receives $25,000 grant

LA VETA- The Spanish Peaks Arts Council (SPACe) has received a big contribution to the ongoing Building Expansion project in the form of a challenge grant of $25,000 from the Denver-based Gates Family Foundation.  In order to collect the promised funds, SPACe must raise an equal amount to match it.  All donations received by SPACe from now on will be counted toward matching the $25,000, until that goal is reached, including tile donations. Once the challenge grant has been achieved, SPACe can go to other foundations for similar grants to finish out the campaign.  The ultimate goal is $250,000 for the two-story addition, new storage area and rear entrance.  Once the Gates challenge has been met, an additional $125,000 will be needed.  Locals and businesses have been very supportive, with approximately $75,000 already raised.

On July 26, SPACe will hold a fundraising event "Private Collections". Original artwork owned by area art collectors will be shown at the one-day event. It will be held at the Parkside 3 – 6 pm.  There will be wine, cheese, music and 5 gourmet baskets will be given away to lucky winners. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  They may be purchased at Charlie′s, True Value, Dakota Dukes and the SPACe Gallery, as well as at the SPACe booth at Art in the Park July 4 & 5.  All funds will go toward matching the Gates′ challenge grant. Additional donations will be happily accepted.
