La Veta- 9:45 a.m.- After a fast paced evening Friday, southern Colorado Grapplers are ready for a full day of action with the top four wrestlers in each weight division advancing to the state tournament next week in Denver. After the first evening, the La Veta team is in third place overall with 22 points. John Mall is in 9th. This mornings action will be fast paced as the quarter final matches will begin. Championship and consolution rounds will start after lunch with the championship matches and Parade of champions set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
La Veta’s Adam Ortivez, who is the number one wrestler in the state and predicted to take it all next week may have a chance to meet Steven Velasquez of Center, who is the number two grappler in the state in what is expected to be next weeks final. This will be the first time the two will meet. Both need to win their next match to square off.
