Pole Canyon project progressing

by Larry Patrick

WALSENBURG- The Pole Canyon Wind project continues to move forward. David Hettich told the Huerfano County Commissioners on Wednesday that their firm has submitted a bid to X-cel for the windpower generation needs they are looking for in the near future. The winning bids are expected to be announced in July. Hettich says that Pole Canyon Wind has secured the leases on the land needed and that the wind testing data looks good and has been completed. Construction is on the horizon.

The County has received $291,000 from the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for building expenses for the waste tranfer station. More money is due.

The river cleanup has been moved to Friday, April 24th due to bad weather expected tomorrow.
