Richard E. Edler, Sr. of Walsenburg, CO entered into rest, February 1, 2013 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO. Richard was born March 18, 1932 to Charles and Mildred Edler. He was 80 years of age.
Richard is survived by his son; Richard Edler, Jr. of Denver, CO; daughter, Robin Edler of Denver, CO; granddaughters, Cassandra Bombadier and Candi Parra and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles “Chuck” Edler, Ronald Edler, and sister, Phyllis Hawthorne.
Richard enjoyed serving the community of Walsenburg. He has been involved with the Economic Housing Development since 1999. He has served as their president for the past six years. He has also worked with the Navajo Western Water District for 10 years, serving as their treasurer for two years. He was instrumental in raising funds for the new Spanish Peaks Library.
Richard served our country in the United States Air Force. He was also very fond of animals. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the New Hope Community Church of Walsenburg.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Romero Funeral Home.
