Julia Serrato

Julia Serrato was called to eternal life on Sept. 11, 2012.
Julia worked as a CNA for 30 years at the Huerfano Memorial Hospital. She was known for the loving care she gave to a countless number of people throughout her career. Her smile captured the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Valerio and Talpita Martinez; husband, Vincent Serrato Sr.; sisters, Esmeria, Fern, Bella and Geraldine; brothers, Phillip and Eluterio; and son-in-law, Carlos Chavez.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Shirley) Serrato, Sharon (Leroy) Valdez, Alice (John) Salazar, June Serrato, Cecelia (John) Gomez-Sandoval, Deborah (Floyd) Trujillo, Rose Serrato, Vincent (Carla) Serrato Jr.; by 29 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; brothers, John ‘Stoney’ (Nancy) Martinez and Robert Martinez; sisters, Patsy (Leonard) Casias, Cleo (John) Falsetto and Maria McLean.
The Rosary was held at 10 am and the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, both Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg. Burial was at the North St. Mary Cemetery in Walsenburg.
Arrangements were handled by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home in Walsenburg.
