Johnny Floyd Cortez, 69, of Longmont CO, formerly of Gardner, CO, entered into rest March 30, 2009. He was born September 22, 1939 in Gardner, CO.
Johnny was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, and his mother Cirilia Cortez.
He is survived by his sisters: Ersie Medina, of Farisita, CO; Francis Robles Pueblo, CO; and brother Porfie Valdez of Redwing CO; a stepsister, Anna Garcia; stepbrother, Matt Arguello, and stepdaughters: Robin, Gail & Bracey, all of Longmont, CO.
The children of Johnny Cortez are Berniece Cortez of Louisville, CO; Gregory Cortez of Lafayette, CO; Irene Cortez of Parachute, CO; John Cortez of Longmont, CO; Lisa Vessley of Virginal Beach, VA; Donna Arguello of Longmont, CO; and Julian Cortez of Longmont, CO. He had 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Johnny enjoyed landscaping with flowers and plants. He also enjoyed music and dancing. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he dearly loved. He was a very giving and helpful person. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service was held Friday April 3, 2009 at the Catholic church in Gardner, CO. Johnson-Romero Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
