Helen Juanita Perez

Helen Juanita Perez was born to Genevieve and Herculano Perez in Longmont, Colorado. She graduated from West High School in Colorado, Class of 1958.
She went into the US Women’s Army Corp in 1960 where she completed her basic training April 27, 1960 at Ft McClellan, Alabama. She received an Honorable Discharge.
She moved to California in 1967 where she lived until she retired. At this time she returned to Colorado, living in Walsenburg from 2005 until 2012, during which time she acquired an extended family and very special friends. She returned to California in December 2012.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Mike) Cresswell, Karyn Robberson, Pam Vacchio; granddaughters, Teresa (Winston) Foster, Trishana Prater, Andrea (Ali) Santana, LaShonda Johnson, and Lisa Foster; great-granddaughter Chloe Gamble; brother, Lawrence Perez Sr.; sisters, Joan Amiss, Diana Cordova, Gertie Martinez, Phyllis Hensley, and Bernice Morris as well as by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
She acquired an additional family within the medical staff during her stay at the VA Community Living Center as well.
She went into God’s keeping at 10:52 am, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 surrounded by the people who loved her. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and best friend, who will always be remembered as generous and loving.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at Stricklin/Snively Mortuary, (562) 426-3365, 1952 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, CA on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 am. Repast to follow at 2003 Van Wick St., Los Angeles, California.
