Obituary Frank (Frankie) Samuel Mauro, Jr

Frank (Frankie) Samuel Mauro, Jr. 11-17-1915 ~ 8-25-2014 Frank (Frankie) Samuel Mauro, Jr. 98, born November 17, 1915, passed away August 25, 2014. Frank played football in 1932 at the Canon City Abbey and attended CU Boulder. The Walsenburg Creamery and Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs are integral parts of Frank’s legacy. He was a member of ELKs B.P.O.E, Sons of Italy, Chamber of Commerce, Lions, and Canon City Golden Age Center. Frank’s hobbies included his grandchildren and great -grandchildren, silver-smithing, antiques, writing stories, real estate sales, golfing, and listening to and singing music. He was an avid Broncos fan, never forgetting to watch a game. Frank had a charisma like no other, as he never knew a stranger and always made you feel at home. His great sense of humor, love of music, and ability to entertain everyone with his deep singing voice will live in our hearts forever. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mariann; sisters

Josephine and Frances; brothers Ernest, Philip, and Gerald; and grandson Kevin McIntire. Frank is survived by his children, Mick (Toni) Mauro, Gary (Eri) Mauro, Donna (Don) Zinko, Randee (Viron) Huff; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and by his brother, George Mauro. A celebration of his life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2827 Lakeview Ave., Pueblo, CO on September 12, 2014 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s name at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
