Obituary-Anes Grace Dees

Agnes Grace (McLean) Dees

Agnes was born on June 28, 1937 in Gainsville, Texas to Belle and Elizabeth (Brown) McLean. They moved to Lincoln, NE where Agnes attended the University of Nebraska and earned a degree in Teaching, where she earned top honors in her class.
She married James Adrian Dees on June 27, 1959 in Lincoln, NE, and then moved to Omaha, NE where she pursued her teaching career, and raised her two daughters, Pamela Kay and Catherine Lynn.
After the death of her husband on Nov. 4, 1998, Agnes decided to move to Cuchara, CO permanently in 2005. Moving to Cuchara was like moving home for her. Her parents had built their cabin in Cuchara when she was very young, so she grew up in the Valley making many, many friends over the years.
Agnes enjoyed participating in the Cancer Relay for Life, Red Hats, bridge club, golfing, hiking, bowling, and her church. She was a loving, caring, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Adrian Dees, and her parents, Belle and Elizabeth (Brown) McLean.
Agnes died peacefully in her home in the presence of family and friends and the help of the Sangre de Cristo Hospice. She will be missed by the many lives that she touched.
Agnes leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Pamela Kay (Charles); grandchildren, Tammy, Adam and Robbie; great grandchildren, Andrea, Trevor, Marquis, Dameon, Xavior, and Rihonna; her daughter, Catherine Lynn, (Roger); grandchildren, Lacy and Sara (David); great grandson, Mason; her companion, Ron LaFrienere; and her four legged friend, Sophie.
Memorial donations should be made to: Huerfano County Relay for Life and can either be dropped off at the chapel the day of the service or sent to:
La Veta United Methodist Church, PO Box 895, La Veta, CO 81055.
A memorial service will be held on July 9, 2011, at 10 am, at the Cuchara Chapel with refreshments immediately following at the recreation center. The family would particularly like to have her many Cuchara friends in attendance to share memories of her life.
