REDWING- Dave Roberts is this week’s featured artist from the ongoing Museum of Friends Courthouse show.
Born in Colorado Springs, Roberts often camped and fished away summers in Huerfano County. In 1984, he was invited to move here by fellow artist Mike Martinez.
“Living in Redwing has given me the ability to store endless otherwise discarded items (junk to some). My art production has only been enhanced here by the serenading of birds, wind, friends and windy friends. My art is a fun, unusual combination of… found objects that find new meaning and homes through whimsy…”
He says, “Artists are moving here all the time for a myriad of reasons, mostly because they’ve found what they were looking for: (the wind in their hearts.) ‘Huerfano County- it’s a butte.’”
