Lady Cates finish fourth

WALSENBURG- The John Mall Lady Cats’ volleyball team completed their season with a 9-10 record (5-5 league) after a pair of games this past week.  The Cats defeated Swink in exciting fashion in 5 games.  After dropping the first game, 21-25, John Mall exploded with an offensive and defensive surge to take the next two, 25-14 and 25 to 20.  In the fourth and decisive game, the Cats fell behind early.  They lost 18 to 25, forcing the decisive game.  The Lady Cats did not disappoint, taking the fifth game and the match, 15-11.

    On Saturday, the Cats hosted the Las Animas Trojans.  They came out winning, taking the first match 25-23.  They then dropped the next two games, 21-25 and 16-25.  In a must-win game, the Lady Cats did not disappoint.  They came out solid in the fourth game to take the win 25-18.  Their momentum could not be carried over however to the fifth, and they lost the match and set 10 to 15.

    The matches set the first sub-round of districts against South Park last Tuesday.  The Panthers lost the match in four games, eliminating the Lady Cats from advancing further in the playoffs and ending their season.  No other information was available at press team.
