LA VETA- La Veta’s youth wrestling season started on March 6, 2010. The first tournament of the year was in Centauri with 300 kids attending. La Veta’s youth wrestling club (LVWC) took 21 kids of ages from 5 to 12. The mighty Redskins youth opened up with a bang, placing 18 of 21. They brought home one 5th place, one 4th place, six 3rd places, seven 2nd places and three first place prizes.
Overall the Skins wrestled very well as it was our first tournament of the season. This is wrestling in its purest form as these youngsters exhibit the tenacity of true sportsmen.
This Saturday, La Veta will be hosting its annual Youth Tournament. Action is set to begin at 9 am. Anticipated teams are: La Veta, Walsenburg, Centauri, Antonito, Sanford, San Luis, Sierra Grande, Taos, NM, Española, NM and Trinidad.
Come and support the youth of Huerfano County.
