Hometown Hero Sean Montgomery

    SGT Sean Montgomery was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As an "army brat" Sean lived all over in the United States and also in Germany.  After graduating high school in 2004, Sean decided to join the army and went to basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he completed training and became a military police officer. His first duty station was in Vicenza Italy with the 95th MP Battalion.  He served in Italy for 3 years. During this time Sean was promoted to the rank of Specialist. He attended the Seventh Army NCO Academy in Graffenwoehr Germany.  Upon graduation, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for being on the Commandants list.  He also received an Army Commendation Medal for winning the Southern European Task Force, soldier of the quarter board.  He reported to his next duty station at Fort Carson, Colorado in January 2009. He is currently assigned to the Fourth Brigade Combat Team, serving in Afghanistan.  He was recently promoted the rank of Sergeant and will remain in Afghanistan until his unit rotates home some time next year.

    Sean is the son of Colleen and Brian Montgomery of Junction City, Oregon and the grandson of Millie and Ed Dye of La Veta.
