Gilbert Valdez Jr., 72 of Walsenburg, went home to be with our Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family on December 3, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Delia Valdez; siblings, Lucas Valdez & Arlene Medina; Father & Mother in law, Silvano and Mary Bobian; Brother in law Tony Sandoval; and several nieces & nephews.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lorrena Valdez; Children, Danette (Doug) Barela, Danelle (Mike) Valdez, Donna Valdez, Doreen (Anthony) Vallejos, and Gilbert (Jolena) Valdez.  Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren – Kayla (Edgar), Layla, Cassidy (Jesse), Carlos, Andres.  Kara and Dakotah. Aaron (Haylea), Andreah, Jace, Ayanna.  Lena (Daniel), Raelynn and Matthew.  Micah (Celestina), Jaycian, Xavier, Daniel, Celina, Micah Jr.  Karina (Jimmy), Daniel, Joseph, Aleynna.  Isaac, Melissa, Aliyah.  James (Mercedes), Nakiah, Neveah.  Destiny Sierra.  Angel (Billy), Mariana, Rio.  Robert (Aizlynn).  Andre (Tiffany), Andre Jr, Emileigh, Bryson.  Anthony (Adrianna), Lorrena, Averiana, Rogelio, Baby Ortiz.  Shai-anne (Tarrence).  Sonia, Ian, Vicente, and Isalina.  Gilbert (Giana), G5, Gianni.  Terrell, Elias (Flor), Elias, Baby Salazar.  Elena (Lucas). Elysianna and Camila.  Siblings, Dolores, Shirley (Frank), Patsy (Fernando), Kathy (David), Rosalie.

He had a passion for lottery tickets (a lot of them), fishing, music, dancing and singing, but most of all spending time with his family.  He loved his three favorite movies: The Edge, The Last of the Dogmen and Legends of the Fall.  He played them continuously and knew them by heart.

He was/is one of the greatest men our family will ever know!  He was strong, handsome and witty.
He fought a hard fight, but he LOVED even Harder!

Husband, Dad, Grandpa ~ you will be missed!
