Fatal Crash near Aguilar

AGUILAR- On Oct. 10, at approximately 7:34 am, a blue 2005 Dodge utility vehicle was traveling southbound on I-25 and went off the left side of the roadway, onto the center median and rolled 1  1/2 times.  The unrestrained female driver was ejected during the duration of the rollover.  She has been identified as Holly Ringo, 17 of Aguilar, CO. The vehicle continued while out of control onto the northbound lanes and came to  a final rest on its top, blocking both lanes while facing in a northerly direction.  Ringo came to final rest on the northbound lanes nearby the vehicle.  She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Las Animas County coroner.

A properly restrained one year old female infant passenger has been identified as Jazlyn Gandomcar, also of Aguilar. The infant sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg, and was airlifted from the scene and transported to Memorial Hospital of Colorado Springs, CO.  The child has since been allowed to return home.                  Holly Ringo was the aunt of Jazlyn Gandomcar.  Alcohol, drugs and speed are unknown contributing factors at this time.

This incident is still under investigation.
