Center- 12:30 pm.- The action was fast and furious this morning with the wrestlers from John Mall and La Veta competiting without a break to probide updates as they happened. The morning session is over and both schools have guaranteed state qualifiers, with more one win away.
After the morning, the John Mall panthers are still holding onto second place with 109 points. Ignacio has pulled away with 161 and looks to win the regional team title. Antonito is in third place.
To recap the morning′s events, Jacob Tenorio is wrestling for the championship at 103 pounds. He already qualified for state.
Michael channel of La Veta will face John Paul Vigil in the consolution semi finals. the winner will grapple for third place and a spot at the state tournament. the loser will finish no better than fifth place.
Waylon Cordova will wrestle for the championship at 119. He already earned a spot at state. He faces Alex Pena of Ignacio, the number one wrestler in the state.
Adam Ortivez (130) will wrestle in the championship tonightagainst Casey Haga of Ignacio. Also at 130 is John Mall′s John Burch. who is in the semi final consolution bracket. He needs to win his next match to advance to state and third place.
Brian Aguirre (135) will wrestle in the championship match.
Dustin Middlemist (135) lost his second match and is out of the tournament.
Jacob Pino (140) is wrestling in the semi final consolution round and needs a victory to qualify for state.
Eric Griego won his earlier match and is in the semi final consolution round. He needs to win to advance.
Eric Ffiguerra (152) is in the semi final consolution round and one win away from state. Jessie bird of La Veta lost his foirst two matches and is out of the tournament.
Ron Ortivez is in the finals and Andre Ortriz needs to win his next match to advance to state.
Stuart Pino (171) is going to state and will finish the tournament no worse than 4th place.
Logan williams (189) will advance to state and finished in the region in third place.
Issac Sierra (215) is wrestling for third place and is going to state.
Lorenzo Trujillo was pinned in his first match and needs to win the next in order to advance.
