by Guy Blasi

CUCHARA- Are you and your family looking for something fun and athletic to do this Fourth of July weekend?  Have a dog that likes to run?  Or do you like to run at altitude by yourself or with your family?  How about just a fun paced walk?  You can do all this and more at the inaugural 5K Dog Trot and Fun Run on Saturday July 3, in Cuchara.

Sponsored by the Dog Bar, and the Huerfano World Journal, with a registration fee of $10 per runner, you get a high-quality event T-Shirt and goody bag.  The circular race course starts at 8,480 feet above sea level.  The race/fun run begins and ends at the Dog Bar.  Medals and prizes will be awarded to the competitive runners in the men’s and women’s category, under 18 and for the rest, the best dressed dog and/or its owner (patriotic wardrobe is highly suggested).  Serious runners are in the first heat beginning at 8:30 am.  The rest of the runners and walkers, with or without pets, will begin after the completion of the competitive runners round.
