by Mollie Fuller

HUERFANO- Jose Osorio, 26, was arrested Aug 19, 2009 for 2nd degree burglary (F3), theft (F4), theft by receiving (F4) and 1st degree trespassing (F5). He is being held in the Huerfano County Jail on $45,000 bond.

Capt. Vallejos of the Sheriff’s Office went to Osorio’s home at 510 Kansas, Walsenburg, with a search warrant.  Vallejos was looking for equipment and items reported stolen from the Spanish Peaks Boys Scout Ranch. These items were a Napa brand air compressor, two medical bags, an RCA TV, and a heart defibrillator.

Osorio met the officer at the door and agreed verbally to having his premises searched and was also presented with the written search warrant. Search of the property turned up all of the above named items except the TV. At that time, Osorio was placed under arrest for the alleged burglary and theft of the items belonging to the Spanish Peaks Boys Scout Ranch.

During advisement and questioning, Osorio stated he did break into a cabin located at 15576 CR 340 and said he was very intoxicated at the time, not remembering what he took.

Osorio was also previously arrested on a separate burglary and theft charge for 1st degree burglary (F2) and theft (M2). Bail was set in that case for $45,000.  His court date for return of filing for charges in both cases is set for Sept 8, 2009.
