Blessman bid looks doubtful

WALSENBURG- Allyson Blessman’s bid to be the John Mall senior class Salutatorian was looking slim on Tuesday evening, when the Re-1 School Board discussed their standing policy of requiring a potential Valedictorian or Salutatorian to have attended public school for the past eight semesters.  Blessman has been home-schooled up until the past two years. The student with the next highest grade point average, Courtney Kelley, is the presumed Salutatorian.  Kelley indicated she would be willing to share the honor, but also said she felt that it should go to the student who is next in line, who is 2,000th of a point behind her.

In other Board business, it was agreed to draft a resolution opposing the expansion of Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site.
