Blanken recall committee appeals ruling

LA VETA- The committee attempting to recall La Veta Trustee Dawn Blanken is filing a legal challenge  in district court, after La Veta Town Clerk Nancy Culbreath ruled the recall petition deficient under the rules set forth in State statutes.

The recall committe originally turned in a petition with 102 signatures.  There were 19 insufficiencies on the petitions.  The committee then turned in a second round of names, but those too were deficient.  The committee is now taking the matter out of the Town’s hands and on to a higher level.
