Annexation in La Veta- part 1

LA VETA- Darrell Arnold, publisher of Cowboy Magazine and resident of La Veta, is joining the Journal as a regular contributor on La Veta and Huerfano County topics.     Arnold graduated from La Veta High, then got a B.S. in wildlife biology from Colorado State University.  He spent four years in the U.S. Air Force before moving to western Colorado and taking on a series of jobs as a firefighter, coal mine supplier, environmental specialist and an outfitter.  He moved back to Huerfano in 1983 and began writing.

    Arnold, whose family roots go back six generations in La Veta, is married to Kristi Speaks Arnold, has four children, and is the stepfather to two more.  He is passionate about Huerfano County: “My roots are in Huerfano County.  I love the place.  I never get tired of the view of the Spanish Peaks.”
