LAS ANIMAS COUNTY — Dry and windy conditions, high fire danger and continuous Red Flag warnings prevailed across the region this week for Trinidad/ Las Animas County, Walsenburg/ La Veta/ Huerfano County, most of southeastern Colorado, and the Raton New Mexico/Colfax County area.
Last week there was a fire in the Kim area, and Friday afternoon the Spanish Peaks Fire Protection District along with the Hoehne and Trinidad Fire Departments responded to a grass fire in the area of Interstate-25 around mile marker 27 two miles north of Hoehne Road in Las Animas County. It was named the Adams Road Fire.
The Adams Road Fire was 100 percent contained by Sunday. No injuries were reported.
