Cuchara Chapel Offers Scholarships to Huerfano County students

Huerfano County (March 6, 2008)- Graduating  seniors of local high schools in Huerfano County are encouraged to apply for scholarships from the Cuchara Chapel Congregation to be awarded this summer. Last year fifteen seniors from John Mall and La Veta high schools each received $1,000 awards.

Seniors may contact their counselors’ offices to access applications for the awards. A five person committee makes the selection from applicants.

The scholarships were established forty-two years ago to recognize and support the youth of Huerfano County. The $1,000 scholarships are an integral part of the seasonal congregation’s Christian mission to support area youth.

Cuchara Chapel services are held Sundays from Memorial Day until the first Sunday in September in its log chapel building that was constructed and dedicated in 1949.
