HUERFANO- The Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch was evacuated for the second time in the span of eight days due to major flooding of Bear Creek, which cuts right through the camp. One hundred and fifty seven scouts, leaders and staff were evacuated during a heavy downpour by the Huerfano County sheriff’s office, the Huerfano and La Veta fire departments, RE-1 school district and the Trinidad ambulance. Five scouts were sent to the Spanish Peaks Regional Medical Center for scrapes, bumps and hypothermia.
