Obituary Ruth “Toots” Vigil

Ruth “Toots” Vigil 5-23-1941 ~ 10-24-2014 Ruth Vigil, known as “Toots” to everyone, received her angel wings on October 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Zella Boyer; her husband, Jim Vigil; siblings Bill Boyer, Jim Boyer, Stella Cates, Susan Martinez, and Mary Lou Mestas; and in-laws Raymond and Teresina Vigil. Ruth is survived by her children: Denise, Jim, Ron (Michelle), Chuck, and Cheryl (Joe Borrego); 12 grandchildren, including Chris, Mark, Nathan, Tim, Janelle, Tiffany (Vigil), Angela, Shantel, Desaray, Randy (Vigil), Monica (Lucero), and Joey (Mendez); 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth (Art Vigil), Inez Chavez, and Mary Ann Boyer-Pedraza; and brother Earl (Bob) Boyer. Ruth loved her family and she lived for her children and grandchildren. She had an open-door policy for everyone in her life. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends, all the get-togethers with her family and friends, and especially the time with her loved ones on the holidays. Through the many years she worked at Huerfano School District Re-1, she made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many students because of her patience, kindness, and tutoring. Our beautiful angel will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her children will forever be grateful for their precious mom and the great life she gave them. Her love and memories will be forever in our hearts. Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg with Rosary at 10 am and the Funeral Mass following at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the Sand Arroyo Cemetery, Walsenburg. Funeral arrangements by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
