Mae Weir 3-23-1914 ~ 1-27-2015 Mae Weir, 100, passed away January 27, 2015. She was born on March 23, 1914 at the Smith ranch east of La Veta. She graduated from Walsenburg High School, then attended Corwin Nursing School becoming a registered nurse. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of Mariposa Chapter of Eastern Star. Survivors include son, Ellis (Eleanor) Weir of La Veta; daughter, Helen (Ward) Jones, Dillingham, Alaska; sister-in-law, Ruth Stock, Denver; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Services were held on Monday, February 2, at the La Veta United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the La Veta EMTs or to a charity of your choice.
