LA VETA- On Tuesday, April 5, a school-wide lockdown was held at the La Veta schools, after a live .44 magnum cartridge was found in the school’s parking lot. The Marshal’s office was informed, and the decision was made to search the campus for anything dangerous. Students and staff were informed of the lockdown situation and ordered to remain calm. All school activity halted for 45 minutes as staff and local police officers searched lockers, common areas and students’ cars. No accompanying gun, or anything else, was found, and class resumed as normal. Principal Bree Lessar informed parents that night via robo-call.
