Human remains found near Cuchara

HUERFANO- Last Sunday, a group of lion hunters near Sulpher Springs stumbled across human bones, and alerted the Huerfano County Sheriff Department.  The way the story is told, the men lost sight of their dogs while hunting, and whistled them back.  One of them returned lugging a human skull.
Searchers returned to the area and found a femur and a glove in the general area, but with two feet of snow on the ground, decided to wait until spring to return.
The body is believed to be Christopher Magrath, 28, of Tulsa, OK, who disappeared on November 6, 2009.  Magrath’s truck was soon found by hunters, and it contained a suicide note.  Magrath’s body was not found, despite a five-day search using aircraft and cadaver dogs.
Magrath’s family had been contacted and was on the scene during the initial search in 2009.  They stated that Magrath had sent several notes to relatives indicating he had come to the mountains to die and that he would make sure his body was not found.  The family also said he had moved from Oklahoma to Colorado but that they had no idea of his intentions.  Evidence and investigation into Magrath’s mental state indicates that suicide was probable.
