WALSENBURG— The US Air Force is seeking imput from public, governmental and non governmental agencies regarding its intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment that will study the potential environment consequences of low altitude tactical navigation .
The area under consideration covers part of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado including Huerfano and Las Animas Counties on the southern boundry.
Proposed training would consist of three training flights per 24-hour period. This works out to about 688 sorties per year according to Air Force reports.

The County Commission approved, on a 2-1 vote with Commissioner Roger Cain voting no, a special use permit allowing RES to erect a new anemometer tower on the Silver Mountain site. Also approved was an extention of an application for a second tower that had previously been approved.
Chad Horton with RES Americas is now the new Development Manager, replacing Carey Kling who has been moved to oversee projects in California.
A special use permit for the E.ON Renewables wind project was approved on a 3-0 vote, allowing private roads in the project to be graveled and sanded.
