by Larry Patrick

WALSENBURG-A new TV tower for Mainstreet Broadcasting (KSPK) was approved by the Huerfano County Commissioners along with a cell tower on the water tank in Cuchara by Comnet. The Mainstreet Broadcasting tower will be under 200 feet so it will require no lighting. The Comnet 16 foot tower will be on the Cucharas Water and Sanitation water tank.

Gardner residents will get their post office back soon. Commissioner Roger Cain said that a modular building will  be set on some land  to allow residents of Gardner to again receive their mail locally. The old location was shut down due to structural problems.

The Huerfano County Commissioners  voted for a ballot resolution to go on the November ballot to allow the elimination of term limits.  Currently Scott King and Roger Cain would have to leave office at the end of their current term. If voters eliminate term limits, they could run again.

A resolution was approved to put a 1% sales tax increase on the Nov. ballot.
