Chris Espinoza appointed as Fire Chief for the City of Raton

RATON — Raton City Manager Scott Berry has announced the appointment of Chris R. Espinoza as Fire Chief for the City of Raton, New Mexico, effective February 14, 2018.
Espinoza has served as the interim fire chief since the retirement of Jim Mathews on September 20, 2017.
Raton Fire Department consists of a staff of 15 full-time employees and maintains emergency response to structure fires, wildland fires, rescue activities, hazardous material operations, ambulance calls, and medical transfers.
Espnoza began working in the fire service in 1996, and joined the Raton Fire Department in 1998.  Espinoza has served RFD in the roles of Firefighter/EMT, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and Deputy Fire Chief.  Espinoza is a New Mexico Certified Fire Officer.  Chief Espinoza’s duties include oversight of fire suppression operations, emergency medical response, and rescue activites.
