Huerfano schools run the gamut

HUERFANO- School Accountability Reports for Colorado schools were sent home to parents last week, and the schools in Huerfano County were ranked all over the place.

    The La Veta Re-2 School District slipped a bit from previous years, but still is ranked High overall for the elementary and senior high schools.  The junior high is ranked Average in academic performance with student growth ranked as Typical.

    For Re-1, Gardner again is a shining star.  Both the elementary and junior highs are ranked high, with student growth listed as Typical.

    In Walsenburg, Peak- view School is again listed as High for overall academic performance on State assessment.  After that, things begin to slide.  John Mall Junior High is ranked as Low in academic performance and Low in academic growth.  John Mall Senior High is listed as Low in academic performance and Typical in academic growth. The Opportunity & Enrichment School is not ranked.
