MANZANOLA- The La Veta Redskins thrashed Manzanola 56-8 to remain undefeated.  The Skins’ defense had little trouble taming Bobcat Michael Aragon and stopping his offensive threat.  Last week, Aragon ran for 6 touchdowns for 296 yards in Manzanola’s 56-54 victory against McClave.

The Skins’ defense shut down the entire Bobcat offense.  Ron Ortivez ran the Skin offense against the Bobcat’s three 200-pound linemen, and he executed the option with precision.   La Veta scored on their first possession when Jared Rae took the opening kickoff 80 yards for the score. Rae was also the Skins’ leading rusher with 117 yards in seven carries, including scampers of 43 and 50 yards, both for touchdowns.  Trey Price rushed for 61 yards on 7 carries.  Ortivez also  threw seven completions for seventy-two yards, including touchdown throws for 34, 13 and 23 yards to Dalton Mason and Dakota Mason.  La Veta dominated the Bobcats in the first quarter and by halftime, were ahead 42-0.

Defensively, the Skins got to the quarterback four times.  Clancey Kreutzer had three of the sacks. Ortivez also recovered one fumble.  Leading tacklers for La Veta were Dakota Mason and Brandon McDonald with seven apiece.  For the evening, La Veta rushed for 355 yards and threw for 117.

Tomorrow the Redskins travel to Hoehne to face their nemesis, the Farmers, who last year, defeated the Redskins on their homefield.
