WPD following leads in two major city crimes

by Eric Mullens

WALSENBURG — Walsenburg Police continue investigations into a recent high dollar burglary at the Louis Vezzani residence near Hwy. 10 and I-25 and last week’s armed robbery of Star Drug in which two women were hit by the thieves.

WPD Captain Vince Suarez said mid-week the physical evidence collected from the Star Drug robbery has been sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations forensic lab for processing and police are following up on tips from citizens. Captain Suarez said two search warrants have already been executed in connection with the robbery investigation, but no arrests have been made.

In the $100,000 suspected daylight burglary of the Vezzani residence in which a small safe was stolen, police are working on some leads that have been provided by the public.

If you have information regarding these, or any other crimes, call Huerfano County Emergency Dispatch Center at 719-738-1044 to be connected with the appropriate investigator or agency.
