Whew

Denver-  Friday afternoon at 4:05 and the last of the 4A-5A Consolations rounds have been completed.  All I can say is that the last 2 days have been nothing short of organized chaos. The consolation rounds this morning went like lightning.  The 2A bouts went fast and furious.  As they called one wrestler to the mat, another was pinning his opponent of scoring a take down.  At one point, Jon Ortiz at (171 ) was wrestling as Nick Northup (189) came to the mat.  Both Jon Aguirre and Ron Ortivez were on opposite mats.  Yet through all the commotion, the event ran smoothly, except for an erroneous error I made on one of our wrestlers.  Friday’s 2nd round consolation matches should prove to be interesting as the wrestlers will again wrestle.  If they win, they go on.  If they lose, they are out.

There are still 5 grapplers hoping to place at state.  John Mall’s, Bryan Crespin is the only wrestler vying for the championship.  If technology works, and the wireless connection stays up, readers to this special web edition of the Journal sports can see results by the end of the night, and possible right after they happen.  Read on.
