Warrior Season winding down

by Guy Blasi

WALSENBURG– With the season winding down, the Walsenburg Warriors football teams are focusing in their last week of regular season play as they take on the North Mesa Tigers next week in Pueblo.  Last Sunday, the 3-4th grade Warriors put their record to three wins and two losses dropping a game to the Pueblo Wildcats 20-7.  The Warriors’ only score was in the fourth quarter, set up by a 15 yard run by quarterback Coby Robbins down to the Wildcat three yard line.  Keenan Leal then ran the ball in for the only touchdown.

The fifth and sixth graders fared no better losing to the Wildcats 12-7 taking their record to 2-3.  The single Warriors’ touchdown was scored by Evan Gonzales with the PAT completed by Tanner Ragan.

After the North Mesa games, playoffs for both Warriors teams will be held at Pueblo County High School the weekend of October 17-18.
