Walsenburg Women’s Club, ADK and Re-1

WALSENBURG- This photo represents the partnership between two local organizations and the Re-1 School District:  Walsenburg Woman′s Club, affliated with the  Colorado Federation of Women′s Clubs; and Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Sorority of Women Educator′s; joined together in an altruistic project with elementary students at Peakview School.  Local clubwoman and ADK member Suellen Levy asked art teacher and ADK member Carolyn Brown if she would introduce the children in her art classes to UNICEF through a video and discussion endorsed by General Federation of Women′s Clubs.  Peakview kids were very inspired to help overseas children who are lacking clean drinking water and the simpliest of school supplies.  Collection boxes were set up in each classroom and the students responded with a generous contribution of $210.  A check was mailed to UNICEF, and the partnership will be mentioned in club reporting.  ADK and the Walsenburg Woman′s Clubs are most appreciative of the help that Mrs. Brown and her art students have given to many less fortunate children.
