Walsenburg POstmaster replaced

WALSENBURG- Walsenburg Postmaster Jim Gagliardi has stepped down last week for health reasons and returned to Trinidad to work as a postal clerk.  He has been replaced by Dave Shaw of Crowley, who himself is retiring next week, due to health concerns.

Shaw says he has never seen such changes in the Postal Service since he began in 1975.  “We’re going to have to make do with less,” he said.  Hours for the part time carriers here have been cut back.

Rumors as to whether postal service will be reduced to five days a week, or that the Post Office staff will be reduced to one or two have been swirling around for weeks now.  Nothing will be definite however, until  Congress says so.
