Walsenburg hires Beth Neece

WALSENBURG- Beth Neece has been hired by the City of Walsenburg to be the Administrative Assistant, answering to City Administrator Eric Pearson.

Neece was the finalist of three candidates that Pearson and the City Council interviewed, and won the job with her extensive prepping on City codes and ordinances beforehand.  She is replacing Cathy Pineda, who has resigned after 29 years on the job.

Her job duties will include grant writing and tracking, working with records, various state agencies and planning and zoning.

On other city business, Pearson noted that financial reports are showing that Walsenburg Wild Waters lost a great deal more than the $18,000 initially reported; “It could be as high as $60,000,” Pearson said.  Final numbers for the summer season are still being crunched, with Pearson stressing, “These numbers are preliminary.”
