Vigil sentanced to 90 days in jail

WALSENBURG- Antonio (Tino) Vigil, 69, of Walsenburg was sentanced to 90 days in jail Wednesday, April 22 by Judge Leslie Gerbracht for felony sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and attempted sex assault on a child.  Vigil had pled guilty to the charges in February. 

    He was arrested  on Sept. 5 2008 after social services was tipped off about a pattern of abuse that had been going on for nine years.

    Vigil was also ordered to pay $26,000 in restitution, and have no contact with children younger than 18.  He will then be on probation for the rest of his life, and register with the state as a violent sexual predator.

    Vigil, who was foreman of the City of Walsenburg’s Streets and Alleys dept. until 2007, was accused of inapproprite sexual contact with a female city employee in 2005, resulting in Vigil taking mandatory counseling, and sexual sensitivity training for all city employees.
