He convinced 12 other families to migrate up from the Taos Valley resulting in the development of Trinidad. While it does not produce as it once did when the mines were in full swing, the Sunflower Valley is the perfect back- drop for rural countryside ride. Today it’s part of the Santa Fe Trail historic crossing and excellent destination for pedaling through historic ranch country.

RATON — The Raton Public Schools and Raton High School Art Club are again sponsoring the annual student art exhibition. As many of you may or may not know last year marked a change in the annual Youth In Art 7th-12th grade display as it was included as part of a district wide spring exhibition. The “2019 Youth In Art” art display will be held Tuesday, May 7, 5:30-7:30 pm in conjunction with the 3rd – 6th grade spring art exhibition at Raton Intermediate School band and choir rooms.
