Trinidad Autism Awareness Chapter to hold an important Q&A tonight

by David Santistevan
TRINIDAD — The goal of autism awareness is to bring the community together to help solve the puzzle that is autism.  That is exactly what the Trinidad Autism Awarness Chapter is doing as they continue to move forward and help over 100 local families, all of our local school districts, teachers/educators, and everyone else in the Trinidad and Las Animas County area.
Tonight, the Trinidad Autism Awareness Chapter is hosting a must attend event for anyone interested in learning more about autism—  a parent support group meeting including a question and answer session with representatives of the Shandy Clinic, a Colorado Springs based pediatric therapy clinic.
It will be held at the Trinidad Community Center, 1309 Beshoar Drive,  tonight, March 8, from 6 to 8 pm.  Dinner will be served, so call 719-680-2638 to let them know you are coming.
This is part two of “Helping Your Child Avoid the Meltdowns That Upset and Frustrate.”  Included are these key talking points: the single most important technique to increase positive response from your child, the secrete to motivating your child, and the “CALM” method.  Learn in the moment to put these tools to work so you can increase your success in parenting and teaching.
Certifications for the two hour professional development will be awarded to all who attend, applicable to education re-certification or advancement.
The Trinidad Autism Awareness Chapter was started by Linda Thompson.  The chapter is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, publicly supported organization and all proceeds go to support autism awareness and support for local children and their families that fall under the umbrella of autism or ASL.
You can support the cause with a donation and receive a thank you gift.  We have many thank you gifts at different donation amounts you may choose from.  You can also request to donate without a gift.
If you would like to speak to someone or learn more about autism awareness, you may also contact the chapter at 719-680-2638 or trinidadautism awareness@gmail.com.
