Track Mid-Season State Rankings

by David Tesitor

HUERFANO, LAS ANIMAS COUNTIES – Personal best times continued to be recorded this past weekend as several athletes moved up in rankings. Unfortunately, this trend was statewide, making it harder for area athletes to maintain their positions in the state rankings. The list includes several local athletes who have placed in the top 16 in the 2A-3A rankings or top 12 in 1A and, as of now are qualified for state. The Thunderbird tournament last weekend gave La Veta the opportunity to improve while the Hoehne Farmers continued to shine in the boys hurdles and relay teams. As a rule, all athletes must continue to improve their previous time if they are to have any chance of remaining in the battle for the top 16 (12 in 1A). Faster times are being recorded weekly and the gap between 16th and one’s qualifying time is narrowing. The following is through April 15. An * indicates a change in position from previous week.
