Town Board will guide museum repairs

by Carol Dunn

LA VETA- Tuesday night  the La Veta Town Board decided to guide repairs at the Fort Francisco Museum, after receiving a request for wriiten directives from the Museum Board.  The Museum Board will be asked to appoint a liaison to attend Town Board meetings and bring a detailed plan and scope of work for each repair project and the electrical work needed.  The Town Board will then vote on each project and arrange to have approved work done.

The commercial development permit application from Fuller Western Real Estate at 215 S. Main St. was approved.  Ordinance 238 for replat of Parcel A Block 14, requested by Eric Bachman, was also approved, including the application for a water and sewer tap.

Mike Drees’ request was approved for a 3 ½ foot variance for the front setback at 305 E. Ryus in order to build a porch onto the house.  Drees also said the homeowner would like to change the address for the residence, but that request was turned down. It is contrary to the Town’s current address assignment format.

The Board revisited the construction taking place at the US Forest Service office.  Mayor Mickey Schmidt said he was under the impression, after talking with the ranger, that USFS was going to apply for a building permit.  There was concern that the sidewalk being poured may interfere with the Town’s plan to construct curbs and gutters along Field Street.
