Three suspects in armed robbery sought by Raton Police

RATON — Raton Police are looking for three persons connected to an armed robbery of the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy shortly after 8 am Friday, October 16. The three men entered the pharmacy brandishing an AK-47 style rifle, a hand gun and a taser. The suspects were covered with face masks and with clothing from head to toe, so no distinguishing marks were visible nor were there any distinguishable accents in their speech according to Raton Police Chief John Garcia. They left the scene in a red Jeep that was later recovered near the Doña Ana Apartments with the engine still running. The vehicle has been impounded by New Mexico State Police Crime Lab for processing. Police canvassed the apartments but found none of the suspects.   In a separate incident occurring at the Pendleton gas station on south Second Street, a man identified as Joey Romero, was shot in the thigh by an unknown assailant. The shooting happened Thursday, Oct. 15, at about 5:30 pm. Romero’s wound was non life-threatening with no damage to any major arteries in the thigh. The bullet was a through and through shot.  During the investigation, Police recovered a stolen handgun used in a robbery in Pueblo from the Romero vehicle. Romero will be charged in
