Step increase for RE-1 District staff.

Staff Report
WALSENBURG — The board honored a Memorandum of Understanding with the Huerfano Education Association on Tuesday night. After budget audit in January, it was clear that a step increase could be given to the staff. Employees of the district who were employed for at least 90 days during the 2011-2012 school year and are employees for the 2012-2013 school year will be given one vertical step on the salary schedule. As the district is half way through the year, payments will be evenly divided and paid out from March 2013 through August 2013.
The Art Club, Speech/Debate Club, Drama Club and the National Honor Society have planned a trip to Santa Fe from February 28th to March 3rd. The plan is to visit the Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFU), the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, the Canyon Road Gallery, the Railyard Artisans Market and attend a showing of Water: A Documentary Theatre Project At SFU.
Participants for this trip are being selected by students completing an essay on why they wish to go, how they intend to share what they have learned and their plans for a community night presentation.
In regular business, the district approved additions to the substitute teacher and volunteers list. Members were approved for the DAAC, and the resignation of Michelle Starling was accepted with with regret. The superintendent was advised by the board to proceed with an issue involving the district and PERA.
The public meeting ended when the board went into Executive Session under C.R.S. Section 24-6-402 (4) (f) to review the superintendent’s evaluation.
